The stray/intake Cat Room is a very important space for any cats coming into the shelter.
The animal Intake room is where it all begins, as soon as an animal walks through the shelter doors.
In this room, we will do a full examination of an animal coming into care and will determine if the animal can stay in the shelter or needs Veterinary care. All animals are checked for identification, vaccinated, treated for internal and external parasites, weighed, and given their shelter identification number. You could say this is the most important room in our building. Having a quiet space like this provides a calm, stress-free environment to conduct examinations. A shelter can be a scary space for an animal, and having a safe space to perform their initial intake is so beneficial.
This room has a large window allowing us to observe the cats from the reception area.
